Job Description

This is a part-time support worker position ranging from 20 -22 hours per week, depending on the availability of applicants.

The hours a week may be as follows:

Up to 3 x 4 hr after-school sessions during the week

1 x 6 -10 hr session on Saturdays (alternative Saturdays considered)

Additional hours may be available during school holidays, to cover the leave of other support workers and to cover a 2:1 staff ratio

At the present time there is availability for x2 part time support worker.This post is open to female staff only as it involves personal care. Occupational Requirement (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 Part I)

The central role of the support worker will be to support 'A' in all activities of daily living, to ensure 'A' is maintaining as much independence and function as possible, to encourage the development of a positive self-image and self-esteem and to enable her to reach her maximum potential whilst ensuring her safety and welfare.

The support worker will support 'A' in her own home, within her local community and in visiting people and places that are important to her and the family.

The support worker will be expected to work co-operatively with 'A's family and take directions from them as well as the Case Manager's a in line with their needs as a family, and on any therapeutic programmes, her care plans and daily living needs.

Training and supervision will be provided for all workers. Support workers will be expected to attend induction and training sessions and be available for regular supervision. Workers will be paid for attendance at sessions as specified by Sonia Woodward Ltd.

Responsibilities:

To support 'A' with all aspects of her personal care needs. To ensure constant supervision of 'A' both within the home and in the community. The support worker will work in collaboration with 'A's parents. Working with treating therapists such as occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, music therapist and clinical psychologist as required, and follow their recommended programmes. Engage in playful activities with 'A' both within the home and in the community. Supporting occasional school holiday 'twin days' where 'A' and her twin are both taken to an activity by two support workers. Attendance and engagement in supervision, team meetings and multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
To promote a positive and consistent approach within the home setting.

To always supervise A both within the home and garden.

Provide personal care to 'A';

Promote 'A's independence at all times in an age-appropriate way, whilst balancing this with risk management.

Support 'A' in attending community-based activities on a 2:1 staff ration such as soft play, local parks and swimming.

Supervise 'A' in the community at all times.

Transport 'A' in support workers own car.

Accompany 'A' to planned activities after school such as Guides / Music therapy.

Maintaining accurate records at the end of each session.

Able to drive 'A' to activities in support workers own car.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 15.00 per hour
