About the job
Improvement of the performance of the key SWR product, the timetable, to deliver better and more reliable journeys for our customers
Identifying areas of deficiency in both the permanent and short term timetables and developing scheme to improve the On Time to 3 performance metric
Your main responsibilities will be:
Lead projects and workstreams and undertake detailed analysis of the current timetable to identify causes of instability in the plan
Identification of opportunities with the timetable to improve the On Time to 3 performance metric
Lead the interface with timetable modelling teams in System Operator and suppliers identifying performance improvement opportunities
Working cross-functionally and with external timetable participants to deliver performance improvements
Input of performance driven schemes to the Timetable Development Manager, Permanent Train Services Planning Manager and Short Term Planning Manager
Production of information to support Network Performance Board
Work with the wider Train Planning team to deliver SWR's major timetable change plans.
You'll need to be/have:
Pro-active, analytical and possess problem-solving skills
Timetable planning skills both an LTP and STP basis
Experience of project-based working
Knowledge of railway operations, industry contractual framework and timetabling techniques appropriate to the SWR's operating territory
Knowledge and experience of relevant railway planning software as current and the use of general spreadsheets and databases.
Excellent communicator and influencer, recognising that success is dependent on others throughout the organisation
Understand the nature off all subsections of train planning how they interlink and impact on each other.
Ability to communicate with people at all levels, also build good working relationships and influence teams with other companies and departments.
Desirable Knowledge
Knowledge of the Integrated SWR / NR Wessex network
Knowledge of train performance software
Working pattern
Monday to Friday, office hours.
