Principal Accountabilities and Requirements
Lead the tool room team to deliver the objectives set out by the Technical Projects Manager.
Partner with the Production team to ensure that all production tooling is maintained in good order and ready to be used in manufacturing in line with the required production schedule.
Work with the Technical Projects Manager to ensure that the agenda for the Tool Room is clear, well managed and meeting the needs of its Internal and External customers.
Develop the team, its ways of working and drive the right values to ensure a culture of team working and right first time.
Manufacture new injection mould tools from technical drawings and 3D cad data to a high level of workmanship in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Repair, modify and maintain existing production tooling.
Supervise the operation of all toolroom plant and machinery safely ensuring necessary protective clothing and equipment is used at all times.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the toolroom.
Suggest any possible improvements to tooling or processes, for assessment by Technical Projects Manager.
Log completed tool maintenance and repair work using the systems and databases provided.
Ensure correct marking and labelling of tools.
Be proactive in suggesting improvements in productivity and efficiency, part of OGM's continual improvement program (CIP).
Ensure Good housekeeping (5S) standards are in place in the tool room.
Development and training of apprentices.
Required Skills
Apprentice trained toolmaker.
CNC experience
Cad/Cam experience
Fully hardened steel production tools
Experience with Hot runner systems / Valve gates and manifolds
Desirable Skills
Qualified plastic injection mould tool toolmaker.
Operate of all toolroom plant and machinery safely.
Experience managing Apprenticeship programmes.
