We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Tool Room Manager to oversee the operations of our tool room. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing tool inventory, ensuring the maintenance and repair of tools, and leading a team of skilled technicians. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency within the tool room environment.
Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring all tools are properly maintained and readily available for production needs.
Oversee inventory management, including tracking tool usage, ordering replacements, and conducting regular audits.
Lead and mentor a team of technicians, providing training on best practices for tool maintenance and safety protocols.
Develop and implement procedures for the safe handling and storage of tools to minimise risks and enhance workplace safety.
Collaborate with production teams to understand their tooling requirements and ensure timely availability of necessary tools.
Maintain accurate records of tool repairs, maintenance schedules, and inventory levels.
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the tool room operations to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Strong knowledge of various types of tools, their applications, and maintenance procedures.
Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to lead a team effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to tool management is essential.
Proficient in using computer systems for inventory management and record keeping.
