Smith Anderson have been manufacturing in Scotland since 1859, now operating from our custom built facility in Kirkcaldy we produce over 60 million paper bags per week. We are currently looking to recruit bright, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our Engineering and Production teams.

As an apprentice you will work towards a qualification this will be achieved through a combination of technical training/support from Fife College as well as on the job training and development by working with a an experienced and qualified group of employees in the workplace.

In addition to this you will learn about Smith Anderson and all our manufacturing /printing processes as well as understanding and supporting our drive towards world class manufacturing and ensuring we reliably meet the needs of our trusted, loyal customer base.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are a good team player who is organised, practical with a positive can do attitude, self-motivated with problem solving skills.

To apply for this role you must be Qualified to National 5 including English, Maths and preferably a Science or Technical subject or hold an NC or NC working to level 6 or an equivalent.

JOB OVERVIEW



You will work under the supervision of highly experienced employees to acquire first-hand on the job experience as well as attend College to gain a formal qualification.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Install, maintain and repair systems and equipment. Identify maintenance risks on equipment. Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults Clean, adjust and repair systems. Perform repairs promptly and efficiently. Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions. Reads, interprets and executes drawings, blueprints and electrical code specifications Tests electrical equipment and parts for continuity, voltage and resistance. Installs repairs or replaces AC/DC motors and drives, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic electrical controls. Installs repairs, or replaces electrical wiring receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and line assemblies, lighting and alternative electrical parts Undertakes preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems Installs electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches and equipment. Works on electrical/mechanical failures and replaces components wherever production time is affected. Corrects connections and wiring on equipment controls wherever incorrect applications may cause harm and dangerous conditions. Conducts preventative and maintenance programs, and also keeps maintenance records. May install, maintain and calibrate equipment and connected devices Ensure compliance with standards and procedures of industry, Safety Manual and abide by Health and Safety rules.
