The Role



Role Requirements:



We are looking for an entry level Toolmaker, to support the manufacture, maintenance and repair of precision tools, jigs, fixtures and moulds; all under supervision. Working closely with senior toolmakers and engineers, you will continue developing your machining, measurement, and tooling skills while supporting day to day tool room and production activities.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 37 hours per week (9.25 hours per day)

Responsibilities



Assist with the manufacture, repair, and maintain tools, jigs, fixtures, and moulds in accordance with engineering drawings and instructions from senior staff. Set up and operate basic manual machines, including mills, lathes, grinders, and drilling machines under supervision. Perform basic measurement and inspection using micrometres, calipers, gauges, and other metrology equipment. Support routine preventive maintenance on tools, moulds, and fixtures to ensure reliability and accuracy. Basic developing skills on wire EDM and other specialist equipment as required. Assist other departments in quieter periods, helping with practical mechanical or production tasks. Maintain good standards of workmanship while actively developing your skills through ongoing training and mentorship. Actively ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times, keeping a clean and safe working environment.

Assist in the implementation and maintenance of 5S standards and continuous improvement and contribute where possible to improve all aspects of work Adhere to company policy and operate in line with your Contract of Employment and the Company Handbook at all times

Personal Skills / Experience



Completed apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Toolmaking or related discipline. Basic experience in machining, tool fitting or precision manufacturing. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings with guidance. Willingness to learn how to identify support solutions to tooling and production issues. Willing and able to support both toolroom and production activities when required. Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Eager to learn and develop new skills through training. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures. The ability to work under pressure.
