Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications on production tools and dies.
Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling issues during production or downtime.
Strip, clean, inspect, and reassemble tools to required standards.
Operate manual toolroom equipment (lathes, millers, grinders, etc.)
Ensure all tools are in optimal working condition and meet dimensional and quality requirements.
Assist in tool trials, sample runs, and support production startups when required.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, tool designs, and technical documentation.
Work closely with engineers and production teams to recommend improvements in tool design and performance.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Maintain equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance.
Assist in the development of new and existing manufacturing processes and procedures to optimise performance
Train other personnel in the use of the machines and techniques, including your team and apprentices.
Daily completion of digital timesheets and tooling maintenance records
Carry out any other duties within the capability of the job holder.
Experience
Time-served Toolmaker or completion of a formal apprenticeship in Toolmaking or Precision Engineering.
Proven experience in tool maintenance and repair, preferably in piercing, raising, progression, stamping, or precision engineering environment.
Strong knowledge of machining processes and toolroom equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical schematics.
Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and surface treatments.
Proficient in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Flexibility to work shifts or respond to urgent tooling issues when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: 40,000.00-43,000.00 per year
