the role
We are looking for a dedicated and engaging Tutor who can deliver high-quality teaching and support across a broad curriculum. Key responsibilities include:
Ability to teach English up to GCSE level, and general subjects
Ensuring pupils build knowledge and skills that lead to meaningful progress
Planning and delivering an inspiring, high-quality curriculum that supports pupils to enjoy learning, achieve well, and move confidently towards clearly defined end points
Teaching clear, structured lessons that embed key concepts in pupils' long-term memory and support outstanding progress
Setting personalised learning targets for each pupil, considering prior attainment, individual needs, and their broader developmental goals
Working collaboratively with the Head Teacher and leadership team to deliver a curriculum that builds knowledge systematically and meets the needs of all pupils
Regularly assessing and monitoring pupil understanding, using assessment outcomes to inform teaching and guide timely, targeted interventions
Planning with a clear focus on the SEN for each pupil, creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences that support both academic and personal development

about you
You'll be someone who thrives in a supportive, SEN-focused environment and brings creativity, resilience and commitment to everything you do. Ideally, you will:
Hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE preferred) with proven teaching experience
Evidence of recent planning and teaching to GCSE level is necessary, with the ability to deliver core skills in Maths, an advantage
Have experience working in a SEN setting and understand the importance of a flexible, pupil-centred approach
Be skilled in planning and delivering curriculum content using a variety of teaching styles and methods to engage and inspire diverse learners
Show commitment to inclusive practice, positive behaviour management, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
Hold a full driving licence and have access to your own car, as the role involves travel between school sites, including the satellite base, and delivering 1:1 outreach across South Devon.
Teaching early literacy would be an advantage
