Summary



As the business continues to grow our level of import and trade arrangements has also grown in both size and complexity. We need to bring expertise into the business to monitor and report the ways of working to ensure compliance and we will need to bring in new processes to adhere to tax and reporting requirements.




This role is to work as a conduit across the business building new ways of working that fit this organisation whilst driving compliance. It is also a coaching role as the Trade compliance manager will need to train and educate the wider business.



MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:



Ensure trade compliance for all import trades across all Aprolis group of companies. Build strong relationships with all customs partners to ensure self auditing and strong reporting to monitor and track compliance Deliver an internal audit programme to address historical issues on customs compliance Build processes to ensure monthly review from our own records going forward Improve repositories of record keeping at all levels across the business. Work with teams to ensure new processes are used and become easier to use over time. Digitalise processes where possible. Develop and maintain internal policy, process and procedures Train out and build an ongoing training programme for all areas of the business on trade compliance matters as appropriate. Provide communications as appropriate. Review all taxes including VAT compliance Document Compliance to be managed and propose changes e.g. Invoices, Websites Perform Contract Reviews as required, advise on contractual terms within areas of expertise Review and provide proposals on transportation, storage and warehousing to reduce costs, improve service and efficiencies. Potentially look at customs warehousing and AEO accreditation Lead on insurance set up across the business and ensure accurate data collection Work with Monnoyeur group as required on any compliance matters

Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive business information.

EXPERIENCE



Proven experience in international trade compliance, customs regulations, and import/export procedures. Strong understanding of UK and EU customs laws, VAT rules, and related tax compliance. Demonstrated success in building, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks in a commercial setting. Experience with customs declarations, documentation requirements, and working with HMRC and any other necessary authorities or organisations. Track record of delivering internal audits and remediation programmes. Skilled in developing and delivering training to non-specialist audiences. Experience in reviewing and advising on contractual terms related to trade, transport, storage, and insurance. Knowledge of digital tools for process improvement and record management.
