Overview of the role:

Hours and location: 40 hours per week, plus overtime with possible Weekend cover.

The role will be based at Ilkeston.

WARD have an opportunity for an experienced Trade Waste Driver to join our compaction team. You will be driver and labourer on our 26 Tonne vehicles. This will be single person operation and will include driving, loading and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities:

- Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform

- Understanding of geographical working area

- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.

- Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving.

- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.

- Collect and verify delivery instructions.

- Report defects, accidents or violations

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Our best people are strongly aligned to our values, ideally you will have had some experience working in a fast paced environment and have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and an eye for detail with a can do attitude.

- Full driving license and previous experience as a Trade waste driver

- Proven work experience as a trade waste driver

- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)

- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.

- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations

- No recent moving or driving violations.

- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions
etc)

- Manoeuvre trucks into loading or unloading positions.

- Ability to prioritise tasks.

- Ability to plan and organise your own workload.

- Accurate, conscientious and self-motivated

- Ability to use initiative and make decisions.

- Good communication and customer service skills

- Knowledge of manual handling techniques

- Committed to working safely.

- Physically fit
