DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Casual Car Documentation- The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
Manchester is the regional centre for finance, commerce and retail which means that you will get involved in a variety of trading standards work and get a wider range of experience than you might in smaller local authorities. Working in such a thriving city can be challenging but exciting. You will need to have a flexible approach and be able to work in partnership with a range of stakeholders. We also have a number of apprentices so you will be able to help develop future Trading Standards officers..

About the Candidate
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to join our Trading Standards team. The post holder will be expected to carry out a comprehensive range of duties including Trade Marks, Consumer Safety, Metrology and Fair Trading. You will be expected to have specialist knowledge in these areas and be able to carry out complex investigations.
