We are recruiting: Interim Trading Standards Officer
Part-time: 15 hours per week, flexible between 7am-7pm
Hybrid working: Mainly remote with some office presence in Matlock + occasional weekend work
Contract: Until February 2026
Rate: Negotiable
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Trading Standards Officer on a part-time interim basis.
This role will help support local businesses and protects consumers by tackling unfair and unsafe trading practices through enforcement, advice, and education.
Role duties:
Plan and lead inspections to assess business compliance with trading standards legislation.
Provide accurate advice to both consumers and businesses.
Investigate complaints and take appropriate enforcement action.
Support work on food and/or feed standards (desirable but not essential).
Essential requirments:
Relevant Trading Standards qualification (e.g. Diploma in Trading Standards / Consumer Affairs) or strong experience across Trading Standards law.
Good knowledge of trading standards functions, ideally including food/feed.
Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
