Looking to pick up a steady, part-time contract alongside other work?
I'm currently working with a council in the East Midlands that's looking for a qualified Food Standards Officer to support their Trading Standards team on a part-time basis.
They need someone for 15 hours per week, ideally split over 2 days, to help them manage a growing food standards inspection workload. This is a great fit for someone who wants to pick up a steady, low-hassle contract that fits around other commitments.
What they're looking for:

• A fully competent and qualified Food Standards Officer - able to undertake official controls under the Food Law Code of Practice.
• Trading Standards background - you'll need to be confident handling food standards inspections, with minimal supervision.
• Available to work 2 days per week, ideally on-site (some flexibility depending on inspections and admin needs).
• Someone reliable, practical, and able to get stuck in from day one.

The role will involve:

• Carrying out food standards inspections at a range of business types.
• Supporting with follow-ups, advice, and enforcement action where needed.
• Accurately recording findings and contributing to the wider Trading Standards service.
• Working closely with a small, friendly team who value experience and independence.
