to join our container haulage operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily planning, coordination, and execution of container movements, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and excellent service delivery to our clients and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule and dispatch drivers for container collections and deliveries to/from ports, depots, and customer sites.
Monitor live traffic, driver progress, and fleet status to adjust plans in real-time and maintain delivery deadlines.
Communicate with drivers, port authorities, customers, and third parties to manage bookings, delays, and operational issues.
Ensure compliance with all relevant transport laws, driver working time regulations, and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of jobs, ETAs, vehicle movements, and customer communications using transport management systems (TMS).
Assist with booking container slots at ports and coordinating VBS (Vehicle Booking System) entries.
Proactively resolve route issues, vehicle breakdowns, and other operational challenges.
Provide excellent customer service through clear communication and timely updates.
Work closely with the wider logistics, fleet maintenance, and customer service teams.
Skills & Experience Required:
Previous experience in a traffic operator, transport planner, or similar role within container or general haulage.
Strong knowledge of UK port systems, VBS bookings, and container haulage operations.
Familiarity with transport management systems and live tracking tools.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills under pressure.
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
Understanding of driver hours, tachograph rules, and legal compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPC qualification (desirable but not essential).
Experience working with container haulage fleets and port operations (e.g. Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway).
Knowledge of customs clearance processes is a plus.
