Job Description

This post consists of a funded 2 year apprenticeship via HEE England completing MSc Advance Practice, commencing at Band 7. On completion of the degree, progression to Band 8 A will be awarded on a permanent basis.



In addition to the standard requirements for a post at this level, you must also have a minimum of 4 years' post-registration experience as well as at least a Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths & English at GCSE level. Please note that these additional requirements have been set by the Manchester Metropolitan University. If you do not have these, you cannot be considered for the post as you will not meet the University's criteria for the training course.



We're looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic, motivated and experienced clinician who will be required work as an autonomous practitioner identifying, assessing, diagnosing and treating older adults with ortho geriatric needs.



Applicants may hold professional registration from a Nursing or Allied Health professional background.



This is a full time post (37.5 hours) working across Monday to Sunday between 0800-2000



An Enhanced DBS (with Adults Barred List check) will be obtained for the successful candidate during pre-employment checks.



The job will sit as part of the ortho geriatric team working alongside a consultant and various levels of junior doctors. The team cover the patients on Aspull the orthopaedic ward that has 28 beds. The workload on the ward consists mainly of fractured NOF medical management. The team is a vital part in achieving multiple elements of best practice tariff for this patient group. The role does sit within a team but there are lots of opportunity for autonomous working.

Assess a range of patients with undifferentiated and differentiated problems and under supervision if needed and work towards the development of a comprehensive management plan in undifferentiated and differentiated

Develop and utilise advanced knowledge and skills to assess, examine, diagnose, plan, treat and refer patients if needed to meet the patients physiological, psychological and social needs and in response to the changing needs of the

Utilise appropriate investigations to confirm diagnosis and action as

Work towards organising the clinical management of patients, utilising advanced knowledge and skills prioritising patients accordingly. This may be through triage, face to face and telephone consultations, MDT meetings as appropriate using professional clinical

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations with the support and guidance from other team

Work towards managing situations that are unfamiliar, complex or unpredictable and seeking to build confidence in others with the support and guidance from other team members. This will involve utilising clinical judgement and decision making to initiate appropriate interventions and treatment for patients.

Make and receive referrals to and from other health care professionals

Communicate patient's condition, verbally and in writing as required, to other members of the multi-professional and multi-agency team and contribute towards the decision-making processes in patient management.

Discuss with mentor / supervisor the utilization of medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based

Work towards completion of the Non- Medical Prescribing qualification (V300) as agreed in the MSc Advanced Practice. .

Support and promote patient independence and daily living within their

Support patients to make healthy lifestyle choices through implementing health education and promotion strategies and promote self-care where appropriate
