Job Description

The post holder will be trained to be an Asbestos Surveyor. To become an authorised Asbestos Surveyor requires a minimum of six months and will involve hands-on learning with existing, experienced surveyors. A BOHS P402 Asbestos Surveying training course must be attended and a written and practical exam passed to gain the recognised asbestos surveying qualification.

On successful completion of the BOHS P402, the salary will increase to 27,000 per annum, and on training sign off (6 months) , will rise again to 28,000 per annum. (Note: Salary to be reviewed in line with company policy in January 2026 and subject to increase)

The duties of an Asbestos Surveyor include the following:

Surveying commercial, domestic and industrial premises for the presence of asbestos*
Sampling materials suspected of containing asbestos*
Preparing site sketch plans of the surveyed properties*
Photographing areas of asbestos within the surveyed properties*
Recording all findings on an electronic hand held device on site*
Liaising with clients and tenants on site*

On a daily basis, the post holder will travel to the site to be surveyed and carry out the appropriate level of survey in the indicated parts of the building. A company van will usually be provided for your use but if necessary you may need to use your own transport and you will be reimbursed for this at a set rate.

The post is based on a 40 hour week and occasional weekend or evening work may be required.

The training program takes a minimum of 6 months, during which time you will be continually assessed to ensure progression and suitability to the role. Please also note that Asbestos Surveyors are required to work at height (using ladders and other equipment) and some work involves working in confined spaces including roof voids.
