MAIN DUTIES To undertake a period of training in order to become proficient in delivering quality assured services. To assist Respiratory Physiologists in the delivery of Spirometry and Sleep services within Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and all other designated clinics within the community and mobile venues. To assist in the preparation and cleaning of all appropriate equipment for the delivery of respiratory services to all our stakeholders To work according to all approved policies and guidelines to fulfil key performance indicators in the delivery of service contracts to commissioners. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES To perform quality assured Spirometry testing and associated tests as requested in all designated areas throughout LHCH and the Community To comply with LHCH and departmental policies to ensure optimal quality testing To be proficient at basic Spirometry interpretation To ensure all data is appropriately recorded and archived in line with Trust policy To prepare Sleep diagnostic equipment for patient testing ensuring the correct cleaning and maintenance procedures are adhered to.
To ensure that individual portfolios and competencies are up to date ensuring compliance with LHCH clinical governance requirements To acquire and maintain basic life support resuscitation competence To communicate effectively with patients, their families, associates and colleagues To engage effectively within the multidisciplinary team To assist in maintaining stock control and general housekeeping of department CLINICAL GOVERNANCE Actively promote the reputation of this hospital and the Respiratory Diagnostic / Pulmonary Function department at all times in a positive manner Adhere to and aid implementation of departmental policies and procedures Ensure compliance with Data Protection act and confidentiality of all patient information Ensure clinical governance and clinical risk management is integrated into patient care Recognise and respect all aspects of equality and diversity Recognise the need to feedback information regarding complaints, risk, accidents etc. Participate as required in service developments, training plans and working patterns in line with quality delivery and contractual requirements.PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT To complete LHCH Care Certificate To complete in house training programme for sleep diagnostics and approved ARTP Spirometry course To obtain ARTP Certification and RCCP Registration for Diagnostic Spirometry, To undertake relevant training /workshops as identified at performance review for continual professional development To maintain professional portfolio and fulfil required levels of competence in all aspects of patient testing appropriate to the post, including regular reaccreditation with ARTP HEALTH AND SAFETY All staff will have responsibility for the safe management of the department and the safety of colleagues and all service users. Ensure safety policies, arrangements and assessments are observed and maintained. Identify, assess and report risks to themselves and others Ensure accidents are reported and recorded Report to the line manager any identified actions that may be a threat to the health and wellbeing of others Attend and maintain Trust requirements for mandatory training CONFIDENTIALITY All employees must adhere to policies and procedures relating to Information Governance, Confidentiality and Information Security.

The postholder must be aware of their individual responsibilities as detailed in the Trusts Risk Management, Health & Safety and Incident policies, and those under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
