Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractor operating throughout the south of England are seeking a Buyer, to join our procurement and ordering team. The successful candidate will preferably have experience in Groundworks and Civil engineering materials, will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials and plant hire, ensuring cost efficiency, and building supplier relationships. The role requires good negotiation and communication skills.
Duties
Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favourable agreements.
Coordinate with the wider construction team to ensure timely delivery of materials and goods.
Place purchase orders accordingly to maintain site requirements
Build and maintain supplier relationships.
Work with our commercial team to ensure projects are delivered within set budgets.
Help develop and work on new procurement and accounting software to track orders and costings.
Requirements
Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles within the construction industry.
Good negotiation skills with the ability to build strong supplier relationships.
A knowledge of building materials, preferably in Groundworks/Civil engineering.
A good understanding of IT and the ability to quickly become proficient on new IT software.
