Job Summary
At Kapella we are entering an exciting phase of growth and we are expanding our specialist offer for children and young people through the CYP Psychological Therapies (CYP-PT) initiative.
This is a fully-funded training role offering the opportunity to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Children and Young People (CYP-PT) with the University of Derby (2026 cohort).
The successful candidate will:
Undertake postgraduate-level academic study alongside supervised clinical practice.
Deliver high-intensity CBT interventions to children and young people presenting with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD and BDD.
Hold a clinical caseload.
Receive weekly clinical and managerial supervision and ongoing professional development.
We are looking for looking for a passionate and creative individual who is highly motivated, adaptable and flexible in their approach. Balancing the demands of the course with the fast-paced nature of the role can be difficult, therefore excellent organisational skills and time management are a must.
Study & Clinical Requirements
Enrolment on the University of Derby Postgraduate Diploma in CYP CBT commencing 19 January 2026.
Attend weekly university teaching sessions (mix of face-to-face and online).
Complete all assignments, case reports, reflective logs and clinical assessments.
Achieve a minimum of 200 hours of supervised clinical practice during training.
The University course is not optional and candidates need to be in a position to enrol with and travel to University of Derby.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop shared formulations with children, young people and families.
Deliver structured CBT-based interventions.
Work collaboratively with families, schools and partner agencies to promote recovery and resilience.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and use outcome-monitoring tools.
Adhere to BABCP ethical standards and Kapella policies, including safeguarding and confidentiality.
Participate in supervision, training, team meetings and service evaluation activities.
Contribute to awareness and outreach activities promoting mental health and wellbeing in the community.
