Trainee Site Manager
. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn the ropes of site management from the ground up, with a clear path to progress into a senior position as your skills and experience develop.
Role Purpose
As a
Trainee Site Manager
, you'll support the day-to-day running of construction sites while learning how to plan, coordinate, and deliver successful projects. Working closely with experienced Site and Project Managers, you'll gain practical experience in managing trades, liaising with clients and contractors, overseeing quality and safety, and helping projects run smoothly -- on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Site Support
Assist with planning and organising site activities from start to finish.
Learn to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Help update project programmes, schedules, and progress trackers.
Support the coordination of trades, subcontractors, and deliveries.
Assist with site logistics, material ordering, and stock control.
Support site documentation, cost tracking, and variation reporting.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Support the implementation of health & safety procedures on site.
Help carry out risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety checks.
Assist with site inspections, quality control, snagging, and defect tracking.
Learn how to ensure works comply with building regs, specs, and standards.
Stakeholder & Communication
Act as a support point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors.
Attend site meetings and help prepare reports, updates, and site diaries.
Learn how to raise and manage queries, design changes, and variation requests.
Leadership & Development
Work alongside experienced site and project managers to develop leadership skills.
Support and communicate with trades and site operatives to keep works on track.
Contribute to building a positive, safety-focused site culture.
Who We're Looking For
Essential:
Some experience or exposure to construction/site work (or strong transferable skills from a similar field).
Enthusiasm to learn and progress within the construction industry.
Ability to read or willingness to learn how to interpret construction drawings.
Strong organisation, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Confident communicator with good people skills.
Proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
HNC/HND/Degree in Construction, Building, Civil Engineering, or similar.
Basic understanding of site health & safety.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office or project management software.
CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
