At our Cement Works in Hope, Derbyshire we are currently seeking a Trainee Control Room Operator who will work within a multi-disciplined shift team after an initial training period of 6 to 12 months. The training and assessment programme to become a Control Room Operator (CRO) will combine on-the-job, in-house and external courses with time spent in the Central Control Room (CCR) with the current CROs. It is anticipated that the length of training and assessment will range from two to four years depending on the existing skills and experience of the successful candidate. Following the training programme, the successful candidate will be proficient in all CCR operations and achieve Level 2 certification before progressing to Level 3 certification.

Key Responsibilities



Daily running of plant including cement mills, raw mills, coal mills and kiln line


Sampling cement and raw materials to lab schedule


Operating plant within environmental limits at all times

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise





Working knowledge of cement manufacturing plant and processes advantageous Understanding of relevant Health, Safety & Environmental issues Experience of working in a team, and shift working Good communication Problem-solving skills Initiative Willingness to learn User-level in relation to a range a Microsoft software package You must also be capable of working in a high-profile role with periods of sustained focus. Flexibility regarding working hours is required at all times.
