Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for 3 Trainee Dental Nurses to join our team in the University Dental Hospital in Cardiff.



You will work at chairside 4 days a week and 1 day will be lectures based away from the workplace.



Annex 21 applies at 70% Band 3



This will be an 18 month fixed term training contract.



The trainee Dental nurse will undertake and fullfil the educational and training requirements of the National Diploma in Dental Nursing qualification.



The trainee dental nurse will provide chairside assistance for a variety of dental procedures and will work as part of a team in the University dental Hospital.



To follow the agreed programme of education and fulfil the requirements of the training.



To attend the lecture programme and clinical placements.



To provide chairside assistance to the Dentist, Undergraduates, Post Graduates or DCP's as required, under the direction of the Senior Dental Nurse.



To identify the patients dental nursing needs during treatment and to provide care to meet those needs, within the parameters of your capabilities.



To adhere to the agreed cross infection control, health and safety and COSHH at all times.



To record individual attendance levels.



To maintain standards of professionalism at all times.



To take responsibility for your own development and identify opportunities for learning and assessment without prompting.



To monitor and evaluate your own performance throughout your training.



To be responsible for chaperoning patients.
