Job Description

We have an opening for a trainee dental nurse. The ideal candidate will already be enrolled on a course or have previous experience.

The successful candidate will join our friendly team of five dental nurses, two receptionists and several clinicians, some of whom have special interest in implants or endodontics.

A dental nurse's main duties include assisting the dentist during dental procedures, maintaining the surgery environment, decontaminating instruments, processing x rays, writing dental records and supporting the patients.

The training will be delivered through an apprenticeship scheme. It is a full-time position of a minimum of 30 hours a week with 20% of that time allocated for study. The training will be provided by a company called Tempdent - more information is available on their web site. Training is a mix of inhouse - being shown how to work as a dental nurse by our team of experienced and qualified nurses and online learning provided by Tempdent. There will be assessments and exams and the endpoint will be to become a registered dental nurse. The training takes approximately 18 months. The apprenticeship scheme is ideally suited to recent school leavers, from age 16, but any age can be eligible.
