The successful applicant will be responsible for the processing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and extant legislation. In addition, the post-holder will be required to support the dispensary supervisor / Lead GP in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times, whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary team in line with the strategic objectives of the practice.

You will have the ability to build excellent relationships with patients and our team and will need to be committed to completing an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services once you start in role. We will consider a qualified dispenser for the role.

*This is a part time position working 15 hours over two days (07:30-15.30 on Monday and Tuesday)
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a part-time, enthusiastic individual to join our friendly dispensary team.
Our dispensary plays a key part in looking after our patients ensuring their medications are prepared safely, accurately and on time whilst offering friendly support along the way. The ideal candidate will be flexible, organised, and a strong team player.
Main duties of the job
  • Dispensing and checking medication in line with legal and practice standards
  • Helping patients with prescription queries and collecting charges
  • Processing repeats and keeping accurate electronic records
  • Supporting stock control, ordering, and rotation
  • Maintaining a safe, tidy dispensary and following SOPs
  • Working closely with GPs, nurses, and admin teams

About us
We are a friendly, dynamic and forward- thinking GP practice whose clinical team includes GPs, Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, FCPs, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant, Dispensers and Social Prescribers. We are also a training practice and host a Research Nurse.
The practice operates across two sites which together serve over 19,000 registered patients. This post is based in our branch surgery in Bodenham.
We are active members of our Primary Care Network (PCN) and are members of a GP federation.

The following are the core responsibilities for which the Trainee Dispenser will undertake training. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies.
b. Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately.
c. Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol.
d. Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the lead dispenser to facilitate reordering.
e. Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.
f. Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with practice policy.
g. Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines h. Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within agreed time
frame.
i. Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters.
j. Process prescription requests via email, phone, fax, face-to-face and online k. Processing Dossett boxes.
l. Assisting the Dispensary Supervisor in the preparation of monthly returns.
m. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
n. Maintain accurate records at all times, coding entries appropriately.
