Shift and schedule: 09.00-17.30, Saturdays essential
Salary: Exceeds National Minimum Wage with bonus scheme enrolment upon successful completion of probation and salary increase upon qualification as a Dispensing Optician .

About the Role
As an Optical Assistant, you'll play a key role in providing a high standard of care and support to our customers, working as part of a close-knit team.
OA responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Registration of patients on arrival for appointments.
Booking and managing appointments for Optical and Audiology services.
Use of clinical equipment to carry out pre-diagnostic checks for patients.
Spectacle styling for patients choosing new glasses.
Adjustments and repairs of spectacles.
Call handling and administrative roles.
Dispensing and sale of Optical products such as spectacles and contact lenses
Upon qualification as a Dispensing Optician, your role will expand to include:
Supporting patients with complex prescriptions or low vision needs
Paediatric dispensing and patient care
Managing aftersales services and problem-solving

Training & Career Progression
We are committed to your development and offer a clear training pathway:
Year 1: You'll complete a full induction and receive on-the-job training for Optical Assistant Levels 1 and 2.
End of Year 1 / Start of Year 2: You'll be supported to begin the Fast Track Dispensing Optician Pathway, which includes:
Distance learning to complete Cert 3 and Cert 4 in Optical Dispensing
Gaining eligibility for Year 2 entry onto the Ophthalmic Dispensing Diploma
All training and qualifications are fully funded by the company.

Essential Qualifications:
5 GCSEs / National 5 qualifications (or equivalent) at grades A-C
Must include English, Maths, and a Science
Preferred Qualifications:
Higher English and Maths or Physics (or equivalent) at grades A-C
