Trainee Emhp Supervisor Banes

Keynsham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We're inviting qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) who meet the criteria to apply for the supervisors course starting in January 2026 to join our growing team.

This is a great chance to be part of a progressive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) at a time of significant expansion. From January 2026, our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) will be extending its reach to support an additional 20 schools. Based in Keynsham, Bristol, we currently work with 77% of schools across the region--and we're committed to making a real difference in young people's lives.

Our MHST team is made up of skilled EMHPs and Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) delivering tailored one-to-one and group support. Beyond direct interventions, EMHPs collaborate closely with schools to embed a 'whole school approach' to mental health and wellbeing, driving positive outcomes for children and young people, their families, and school staff.

If you're passionate about shaping mental health support and working within a collaborative, supportive team, this opportunity is for you.

In your role within the B&NES MHST, you will be responsible for supervising EMHPs and aiding in their professional development. Supervision will encompass both Case Management Supervision and Clinical Skills Supervision, adhering to a low-intensity model.

Your responsibilities may include overseeing trainee EMHPs (Band 4) and/or qualified EMHPs/CWPs (Band 5). Additionally, you will be involved in triaging referrals and signposting. You will also manage a caseload, provide pre-referral consultations, support the delivery of the Whole School Approach, and foster strong working relationships with schools.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides physical, mental health and social care for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.

Our vision is that no matter who you are or where you are, you will tell us that you receive: "Outstanding care delivered by an outstanding team"

At Oxford Health we offer a wide range of benefits designed to support your career and wellbeing. These include:

The BaNES MHST is a small and supportive team, working in approximately 77% of schools in B&NES. The team comprises 12 EMHPs/CWPs, a Specialist SEN EMHP, three other Supervisors, a Deputy Manager, Clinical Psychologists, and a Clinical Manager. In your role, you will supervise EMHPs/CWPs, serve as a lead contact for our schools, undertake pre-referral consultations, and manage a caseload.

You will receive regular case management supervision, clinical skills supervision, and supervision of supervision. You will work closely with the Deputy Team Manager and Clinical Team Manager and be part of the BaNES MHST leadership team. As a continually evolving and developing service, you will be at the forefront of our service's development.

The B&NES MHST collaborates closely with the neighbouring MHST in Wiltshire. The post holder will be part of a cohort of 11 supervisors across both teams.

We are highly invested in our staff and will work with you to identify any learning and development needs, supporting and developing your passions and interests.

This role within CAMHS aims to develop the role of EMHPs in the B&NES MHST. It represents an opportunity for clinicians with knowledge and experience in using evidence-based low-intensity interventions to advance their careers and support the development of this new, exciting service for young people and their families.

You will develop and support EMHPs in providing guided self-help, low-intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT, and delivering groups and training. You will work closely with senior colleagues to screen and triage all referrals. The role will also involve identifying areas of need within the new teams, helping to develop the service, and creating quality improvement plans in collaboration with senior colleagues. You will hold a caseload in agreement with your supervisor and provide interventions to CYP in schools across the area.
