Trainee Estimator

Job Description

We are looking for an Estimator for the Construction Division in the Aberdeen & North-East area both with Transform and Space Design & Build.

To win business through effective costing of construction work through both competitive tendering and negotiated routes. This involves the provision of estimating services and cost expertise to produce detailed tender submissions and budget costs for both in-house and externally sourced project opportunities.

To ensure accurate and competitive pricing of all projects and ensuring that the company's commercial position is protected. To obtain best value from the supply chain and agreeing commercial arrangements and margin prior to handover to the QS team.

Responsibilities includes (no tan exhaustive list):



Preparation of detailed tender proposals - returning tender bids within timescales and ensuring competitiveness in the market Advising on procurement strategy and understanding contract conditions / particulars Preparation of tender and contract documents including work packages and pricing schedules where required Recommending and advising on proposed sub-contractors best suited for each project Assess preliminary requirements in conjunction with the project manager to ensure all site related costs are captured in tender costs

About You



You will be able to work in a fast pace, dynamic work environment with multiple priorities. You will be able to prioritize work in a heavily changeable environment and negotiate with contractors / sub-contractors and suppliers.

Qualifications and Experience:



Construction related qualification Minimum 3 years' experience in the construction industry Commercial awareness Experience of a wide variety of procurement routes and construction methodologies and a technical knowledge base Demonstration of cost estimating techniques including from first principles Knowledge of construction contracts Experience of liaising with internal and external clients Attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing tasks

Skills and Other Requirements:



Ability to maintain highly confidential information and exercise sound judgment Be able to communicate with all levels of personnel within and out with the organization Proficient in MS Office Suites including Excel, Word, and Project Ability to use estimating software package (training provided) Planning and problem-solving skills and ability to adapt Excellent written and verbal communications skills Must pass any company or client scheduled or random drug screens Flexibility to travel to site locations as required within sphere of work Flexibility to work out-with normal hours by agreement when required Full clean driving license
You must have a right to work in the UK.
