The Role





As a Trainee Estimator, you will support the estimating team in preparing accurate cost assessments for commercial and industrial construction projects, including cladding remediation and building retrofits. This is a development role where you will gain hands-on experience in estimating, supply chain engagement, and tender preparation while learning from experienced professionals.


Key Responsibilities




Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions. Learn how to analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to support accurate take-offs and pricing. Help with compiling enquiries and reviewing tender documents. Support in analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations. Work closely with estimators, project managers, and site teams to understand the full project lifecycle. Develop an understanding of industry costs, materials, and pricing trends. Maintain accurate records of quotations, tenders, and cost data. Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings, and training sessions as required. Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes by bringing enthusiasm and fresh ideas. Attend client and design team meetings, presenting estimates and offering expert advice. Support junior estimators and contribute to the ongoing development of the estimating function. Manage and direct the estimating assistant and identify upcoming tender leads.

Who We're Looking For




Interest in construction and a desire to pursue a career in Estimating. HNC/HND or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field. Basic understanding of construction processes. Good numeracy and analytical skills. Competent in Microsoft Excel. Willingness to learn and take direction. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work to strict deadlines. Strong team player with a proactive attitude.
