: Mobile Crane Operator (Small Cranes)

As a Mobile Crane Operator for Small Cranes at Baldwins Crane Hire Ltd, you will be responsible for operating small to medium-sized mobile cranes with lifting capacities typically ranging from a 30 tons to around 250 tons. Your role is vital in providing reliable and precise crane services for various projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Crane Operation:

Safely operate small to medium-sized mobile cranes, following established procedures and adhering to safety regulations.

2.

Lifting Operations:

Perform lifting operations for construction, infrastructure, and other projects, handling materials and equipment with precision.

3.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure strict compliance with all safety guidelines and protocols during crane operations.

4.

Preventive Maintenance:

Conduct pre-start checks and routine maintenance on the crane to ensure its proper functioning.

5.

Site Preparation:

Assess and prepare the work site for safe crane operation, including positioning and levelling the crane.

6.

Load Charts and Capacity:

Familiarise yourself with load charts and determine the safe lifting capacity of the crane for different scenarios.

7.

Communication:

Maintain clear communication with riggers and signal persons to ensure safe and coordinated movements.

8.

Documentation:

Keep accurate records of crane operations, including maintenance records and lift reports.

9.

Emergency Response:

Be prepared to respond swiftly and efficiently to any emergencies or potential hazards during crane operations.

10.

Continuous Learning:

Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to small crane operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

CPCS Certification:

Hold a valid and current Blue or Red CPCS certification for operating small mobile cranes.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience operating small to medium-sized cranes.

Safety Focus:

Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to prioritise safety during crane operations.

Technical Knowledge:

Familiarity with small crane mechanics, load charts, and lifting procedures.

Communication:

Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and site personnel.

Physical Fitness:

Possess the physical fitness required to handle the demands of crane operation.
