Job Description

Trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapists are employed on one year fixed term training contract, involving a clinical placement where you will manage a high volume caseload alongside undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (PGDip CBT) where you will be required to meet frequent academic deadlines.



This is a 12-month training contract, upon successful completion of the course a permanent post will be available. S uccessful candidates should be available to begin their role in September 2025, exact date to be confirmed.



The role requires hybrid working, including both working from home and from either our base in Shrewsbury (Severn Fields Health Village) or Telford (Hall Court), as well as travel within the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin locality per service need.



Training posts available on condition of receiving confirmation of funding - please be aware therefore that number of spaces may change. At the point of academic screening and interview, we will have received funding confirmation and can confirm the number of available posts.



All shortlisted applicants must be available to attend a half-day academic screening in June/July - TBC by the university. Only those who pass the academic screening will be offered a joint interview with the University and MPFT. The training post includes two days per week at University and three days of supervised clinical practice within the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies service. Trainees are expected to progress to working with a high degree of autonomy, with high volume caseloads including video and face-to-face clinical work. In addition to clinical contact, the role will include data collection, data management, analysis and note keeping.

This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
