The Role
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Trainee High Voltage Authorised Person to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to start a rewarding career in the high-voltage energy sector, with a direct path to becoming a fully authorised and qualified HV AP. You will receive comprehensive, hands-on training and mentorship from our experienced engineers and HV APs. Your core responsibilities will include: o Assisting with HV Operations: Working alongside our HV APs to assist with switching, isolation, and earthing procedures. o On-Site Support: Aiding in the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs of HV equipment, including switchgear, transformers, and cables. o Documentation: Learning and assisting with the management of safety documentation, such as Permits to Work. o Fault Finding: Supporting our team in the diagnosis and resolution of electrical faults on HV and LV systems. o Project Assistance: Working with project teams during the installation and commissioning of new shore power systems. o Emergency Response: Preparing to participate in a call-out rota once fully trained and authorised
What You'll Bring
o Qualifications & Work Ethic: A minimum of GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and a science or technical subject. More importantly, we are looking for a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn, adapt, and commit to the training required for this highly specialised role. o Enthusiasm for HV: A genuine interest in the high-voltage sector and a strong desire to learn and develop a long-term career. o Safety Mindset: A proactive and diligent approach to safety, with an understanding of why strict procedures are essential. o Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to think logically and systematically to solve technical challenges. o Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. o Location: Residing in or willing to commute to the East Hampshire area. o Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence is essential
What We Offer
Comprehensive Training: We will provide full training and support for you to achieve your HV AP authorisation. This includes specific training on an existing system in Southampton to ensure you are fully competent with our equipment and procedures. Competitive Salary: A competitive salary that reflects your trainee status, with a clear and structured pathway for pay increases as you gain experience and authorisations. Generous Benefits: This role may include a company vehicle dependant on applicants age, private medical insurance including spouse/dependants cover, a generous pension scheme, and an employee bonus scheme. You will also receive 33 days of annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays. Work-Life Balance: While some weekend and extended hours working may be expected as you progress, it will be paid at an overtime rate.
