The Role - Trainee Leakage Technician





This role offers a structured career path with comprehensive training and mentorship. You'll develop expertise in the analysis, reporting and management of water supply and distribution networks, progressing from trainee leakage technician to a qualified Leakage Engineer/Water Network Specialist while gaining valuable technical engineering experience.



What You'll Do





As a trainee leakage technician, you'll work outdoors in both urban and rural settings conducting surveys of water network assets to identify and locate leaks. You'll plan and conduct investigations based on your findings, precisely locate issues, and report them to the water utility for repair. The work involves both collaborative team efforts and independent responsibilities.



Your field-based role will include:


Conducting leakage detection surveys and investigations Using innovative technology to pinpoint underground leak locations Setting up acoustic and hydrophone loggers on water network fittings Verifying valve status on the water network Monitoring networks using flow and pressure logging equipment Conducting flow logging for domestic and industrial customers Performing flow and pressure tests Investigating unaccounted water usage

You'll gain practical skills through our structured training plan, which includes courses delivered by industry leaders. This entry-level position offers multiple career pathways in both engineering and technical operations, supported by practical qualifications, theoretical training, CPD, and professional development leading to potential chartership.


What We Offer

What You'll Need




Enthusiasm for environmental field work in various weather conditions Full clean UK driving licence Physical capability to handle field equipment Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally Strong communication skills and customer-focused approach Good numeracy and literacy abilities

Helpful But Not Required




Higher education in Engineering, Environmental Studies, or Science Previous outdoor work experience Basic understanding of water systems or environmental conservation
