This is an important role within the finance team of a family-owned multi-national group of companies, reporting directly to the Financial Controller.

The group of companies comprises several UK based companies as well as subsidiaries in Africa. The number and geographic spread of the companies, plus trading in multiple currencies and multi-national financing arrangements, make this a complex (but interesting) environment to work in.

The successful candidate will over time become responsible for the daily financial transactions, reconciliations and preparing financial information for management. They will be hands-on, proactive and comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers and auditors. We expect to provide on the job training to the successful candidate to help them grow into the list of duties below.

Please note the role is 100% office based

Key duties will include:



Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting of all financial transactions, including the month-end and year-end close processes. Contribute to the preparation of the monthly management accounts and reporting pack, including financial performance and KPI reporting. Contribute to the preparation of rolling cashflow forecasting. Contribute to the preparation of quarterly VAT returns for the group. Responsible for processing multi-currency payments from the appropriate company bank account. Oversight of payroll & employee expenses process. Responsible for the monitoring and management of clean sales and purchase ledgers, including preparation of aged reporting. Responsible for intercompany reconciliations of balances and transactions. Responsible for the bank and balance sheet control account reconciliations. Ad hoc projects and duties as designated by the Financial Controller.
The successful candidate will be AAT qualified or CIMA/ACCA part-qualified with experience of working in a finance role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment. They will be a proficient Excel user, able to work collaboratively, identifying and making improvements and adding value to the wider business.
