Job Description

We require a trainee mechanic to join our team. We repair and service specialised carpet cleaning equipment, on site at our premises in Fowlmere, Royston. Although no engineering experience required you must have a passion for tinkering with, and fixing mechanical things! This trainee position is suitable for those with limited experience but keen interest, or those with more experience who wish to learn and progress.

Summary

You will be learning to maintain and repair various specialised mechanical cleaning systems from portable equipment to truck-mounted machinery. You will report to the Lead Technician who will help you learn to troubleshoot issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure the longevity of machinery. Your ability to work with classic mechanical equipment will be essential in delivering quality service and upholding the organisation's standards for excellence.

Responsibilities

Assist in the assembly and disassembly of mechanical components under supervision. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist in repairs as directed. Keep work areas organized and maintain tools and equipment in good condition. Collaborate with senior mechanics to learn best practices and enhance technical skills. Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work effectively in a team environment Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues and supervisors Previous experience in a mechanical or automotive setting is a plus
