Location: Hybrid - Newport Civic Centre, home-working, site visits, and attendance at University of South Wales Pontypridd.
Qualification to be gained from studying (2 years): HNC Built Environment.
Contract Type: Traineeship and maximum 2 years fixed term.

Here at Newport City Council, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to undertake our Trainee Technical Officer role within our Environmental Health Housing Team. You'll support the regulation of the private rented sector, investigate housing-related complaints, and contribute to public health improvements across Newport.
What You'll Do:
Assist with inspections and revisits of lower-risk housing premises.
Support enforcement of housing standards and statutory nuisance investigations.
Contribute to landlord licensing and the Additional HMO Licensing Scheme.
Study towards the HNC Built Environment qualification.
What We're Looking For:
A keen interest in housing, environmental health, and building construction.
Minimum of 3 GCSEs (including Maths and English) and 2 A Levels (or equivalent).
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
