Job Description
Job Purpose and Scope
To prepare and apply paint and other decorating finishes to different surfaces.
Specific Duties
With the appropriate training and mentoring, learn to be able to:
Measure surface areas and work out how much paint or wall covering is needed Prepare the materials you need Strip off old wallpaper or layers of paint Fill holes and cracks and making sure surfaces are level Cover surfaces with primer and undercoat Mix paint to the right shade, often using computerised colour-matching equipment Apply coats of paint, hang wallpaper and add special finishes like glazes or marbling Tidy up after finishing and clean your tools Comply with all Health, Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures The above list is not exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected
Skills and Attributes
Practical skills and a high level of attention to detail Numerical skills to work out surface areas and quantities The ability to follow job instructions Must always follow safety guidelines Work independently or as part of a team Use own initiative Possibility of working towards a qualification (NVQ) Good communication skills To work with integrity and fairness
