Openshaw are looking for a Trainee Paralegal to join the team based out of Farnham. We operate in a hybrid working environment; we usually spend a day a week in the office, which is particularly important to us when a new team member is learning the ropes, but otherwise, we are remote. We are looking for someone that has a foundation knowledge or interest in law, that is keen to learn, well organised and process driven.
You will be responsible for performing administrative paralegal tasks to assist the patent attorney, including preparing submissions to both the UK intellectual property office and European patent office.
Responsibilities will include:
Downloading digital post from EPO and UKIPO;
Docketing of the post into the docketing system;
Sending reminders to attorneys on actions;
Actioning docketing reminders;
Preparing filings to the UKIPO and EPO filing systems;
Reporting post and filings to clients;
Running status checks on cases;
Chasing clients for instructions;
Uploading attorney time to invoicing spreadsheets
Skills & experience required
Previous experience working within an administrative role in any industry
Interest in or knowledge of the Law
Excellent administration skills and adept at following structured process
Skilled in Office 365, particularly Word and Outlook
IT proficient with the ability to learn new system and software
Able to multi-task and prioritise high volume tasks
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Able to work well as part of a small team

Flexible and able to adapt to fluid requirements
