Trainee Pump Engineer

Job Purpose:
To assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of pump systems while developing the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified Pump Engineer. The role offers hands-on technical training, industry certification opportunities, and career progression within the mechanical services sector.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist engineers with the installation, commissioning, and servicing of various pump systems, including booster sets, pressurisation units, and wastewater pumps.
Learn to diagnose faults and carry out repairs under supervision.
Support routine maintenance and inspection of mechanical and electrical components.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to company and site health & safety procedures.
Assist with recording service reports, parts used, and work completed.
Learn to use and maintain specialist tools and testing equipment.
Work both on-site and in the workshop as required.
Undertake training and mentoring from senior engineers to build product and system knowledge.

Skills and Attributes:
Interest in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Good problem-solving and practical skills.
Willingness to learn and take instruction.
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in varied environments (plant rooms, industrial sites, etc.).
Basic understanding of tools and mechanical systems (advantageous).

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science.
Full UK driving licence (or working towards).
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
Level 2/3 NVQ or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or currently enrolled).
Basic knowledge of pumps, plumbing, or HVAC systems.
Previous hands-on or workshop experience (even as a hobby or school project).

Comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
Support towards achieving relevant engineering qualifications.
Opportunities for progression to Junior Pump Engineer and beyond.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Overtime and call-out opportunities available once trained.

Salary:
Competitive trainee rate (dependent on experience) with regular reviews as skills develop.
