Job Description


We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Scaffolding Estimator. This is an entry-level position that offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in the scaffolding industry. The Trainee Scaffolding Estimator will work closely with experienced estimators to learn the skills and techniques necessary to accurately estimate the costs and requirements for scaffolding projects. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and familiarise yourself with scaffolding systems, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Assist senior estimators in preparing accurate cost estimates for scaffolding projects based on client specifications, drawings, and other relevant information.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for estimating, including measurements, site conditions, and project constraints.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and comprehensive project assessments.
  • Analyse project requirements, identify potential risks, and propose effective scaffolding solutions.
  • Support the development of detailed proposals and bid documents, including cost breakdowns, project timelines, and technical specifications.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of pricing information, supplier catalogues, and industry trends to support accurate and up-to-date estimating.
  • Learn to utilise estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the estimation process.
  • Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with industry advancements, safety regulations, and emerging scaffolding techniques.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of scaffolding materials and equipment for awarded projects.
Qualifications:
  • Further education or graduate. The candidate may already have scaffolding experience and is ready to progress. Or they may be a trainee quantity surveyor or already working as a quantity surveyor. Qualifications in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Basic understanding of construction processes, materials, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and estimating software (training will be provided).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and industry trends.
  • Valid driver\'s license and the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
