We are recruiting full time Trainee School Business Managers on a 2-year fixed term contract to join our Schools Financial Services Team and help play a key role in ensuring the successful running of our schools and make a difference to the lives of children and young people in the borough.

About the role

School Business Managers are a growing profession, they are usually based in schools and report into the Senior Management Team (e.g., heads and deputies) their role is essential to the successful "behind the scenes" running of the school as a whole, this means their tasks are varied as they co-ordinate and manage many important functions such as finance, procurement, purchasing, marketing and HR.

You will be supported by Senior Financial Advisers and other specialist advisers within the council such as HR, ICT, Procurement teams and School Business Managers.

Please note this role is likely to involve travel around the borough of Wandsworth.

About you

We are looking for a diverse range of individuals who have a varied range of skills - you may have recently graduated with a relevant degree - such as Business Studies, Finance or HR, alternatively you may have worked in a varied office administration or finance role and would now like an opportunity to develop or enhance your career.

Successful applicants will be highly motivated, organised, flexible, adaptable and solution focused. You will have a high level of ICT and communication skills to work with a range of other professionals with whom you will come into contact. You will be committed to supporting schools in making a difference to the lives of the pupils who attend the school.

Due to the funding rules for the qualification, you must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to applying for this role.

What you will get in return

We will provide you with a full induction and training programme taking place over 2 years, which will include undertaking the Level 4 School Business Professional qualification, recognised by the Institute of School Business Professionals ( ). Time will be given to you in your working week to gain this highly regarded professional qualification.

Once you have achieved this qualification you can have a highly successful career such as employment within a school as a School Business Manager from which other opportunities will arise.
