Hatten Wyatt is now recruiting for trainee solicitors to join its training programme to commence in February 2026. As a firm, we are fully dedicated to providing our trainee solicitors with a comprehensive and diverse foothold into the legal world. We provide high quality training across a range of specialist areas whilst developing your skills both personally and professionally.

This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring solicitors to take their first step into the legal profession and gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. Successful candidates will work alongside experienced solicitors across a range of practice areas whilst completing their SQE.

The Process

Following a review of applications, selected candidates will be invited to attend a face to face interview. Those who are successful at this stage will then be invited to take part in an unpaid trainee placement programme for one week. This programme will involve in-office attendance and participation in a series of individual and group-based activities, designed to help us assess suitability for the trainee solicitor roles. It will also give applicants the chance to meet the team and determine whether Hatten Wyatt is the right fit for them. We invest a lot of time and support into our Trainees with the intention of them fostering long-term careers within the Firm. As such, ensuring a mutual alignment of values is very important to us. We anticipate offering two/three training contracts as a result of this process.

What to Expect

Trainee solicitors will usually spend six months in each seat throughout various departments, focusing mainly on Conveyancing, Private Client, Civil/Employment and Family (although there may be some deviation on this dependent upon workloads and market trends). Our trainees will gain a wide range of experience and develop their knowledge and skills, laying the foundation for a successful future career in law. Our trainee solicitors are also encouraged to get fully involved with all aspects of the Firm's networking, professional and social responsibilities, and help advertise the Firm's commitment to providing a high quality service to all clients. Trainee solicitors may be required to work out of our different offices (Gravesend, Chatham, Maidstone, Tonbridge and Tenterden)
