As a Trainee in our Private Client team, youll gain unique insight into the full life cycle of legal planning and estate management. Youll work closely with a team that prides itself on professionalism, care, and integritybuilding long-term client relationships while developing invaluable legal and interpersonal skills.
What Your Traineeship Will Involve
Over the course of your 2-year traineeship, you will:
Assist with the drafting and preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts
Support Solicitors in the ongoing administration of estates and trusts
Liaise directly with clients and their families in sensitive, often life-changing circumstances
Help manage client affairs during their lifetime and following death
Conduct legal research, attend training sessions, and prepare legal documentation
Handle a small caseload under close supervision while gaining exposure to increasingly complex matters
Be supported by experienced colleagues, including Solicitors, Associates, and supervising Partners, as well as our Legal Support teams
This is a role for a thoughtful, proactive individual who values building strong relationships and providing excellent client service. Youll need a high level of discretion, empathy, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Communicating with clients and third parties via phone, email, and in person
Preparing legal documents and supporting the administration of estates and trusts
Maintaining accurate client records using our online case management system
Attending internal training and development sessions
Conducting legal research and contributing to team knowledge
Supporting solicitors and case handlers in day-to-day matters
What Were Looking For
Essential:
2:1 or above in Scots Law LLB (or accelerated degree)
Diploma in Legal Practice
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confidence dealing with sensitive matters and client contact
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Desirable:
Previous experience in a legal, client-facing, or administrative role
Familiarity with legal case management systems
