Overview



We are seeking a motivated and diligent Trainee Solicitor to join our specialist team handling criminal defence and family law matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring solicitor to gain comprehensive experience across both disciplines under the supervision of experienced practitioners.

The successful candidate will be trained in client care, case management, advocacy preparation, and all stages of litigation, with a view to qualifying as a solicitor upon successful completion of the training contract.

Key ResponsibilitiesCriminal Law



Assist in the preparation of cases for the Magistrates' and Crown Courts, including drafting briefs, taking statements, and liaising with counsel. Conduct legal research, prepare mitigation, and assist with trial preparation and case analysis. Maintain accurate file notes and ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency and SRA requirements.

Family Law



Support fee earners in private law children matters, divorce, financial remedy, and domestic abuse cases. Draft applications, statements, and correspondence for court proceedings. Attend client meetings, conferences, and court hearings under supervision. Undertake legal research and assist with case preparation, including the collation and review of disclosure.

General



Manage assigned administrative and file management tasks, ensuring all documentation is compliant and up to date. Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and client care. Participate in meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Contribute to firm wide initiatives including business development and compliance monitoring where appropriate.

Essential Skills and Attributes



SQE 1 qualified or LPC Strong academic record and a genuine interest in both criminal and family law. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines. Commitment to providing high quality service to clients, including those eligible for legal aid. Professional integrity, empathy, and resilience when dealing with vulnerable clients and sensitive issues.

Pay: 25,000.00-26,003.00 per year
