JOB PURPOSE: The Trainee Spray Painter will support the Paint Shop team in the preparation and painting of heavy plant machinery. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and development, enabling the postholder to learn spray painting techniques while maintaining high quality, safety, and production standards throughout the finishing process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with preparation of machine parts prior to paint application.
2. Support spray painting operations under supervision, progressing to independent work as training is completed.
3. Learn and apply spray painting techniques using single-pack and two-pack paint systems.
4. Work towards meeting production targets within a high-volume paint shop environment.
5. Identify and report defects, damage, or potential issues prior to painting.
6. Assist with the handling and movement of heavy manufactured machine parts safely.
7. Learn the correct use, cleaning, and storage of spray painting equipment and tools.
8. Handle equipment carefully to minimise damage throughout the paint process.
9. Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail at all times.
10. Keep work areas clean, tidy, and safe, ensuring no unnecessary health and safety risks are present.
11. Carry out all tasks in a manner that ensures the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
