Trainee Steel Erector / Junior Site Fitter

Role Purpose

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a long-term career in steel erection and site installation.

You will work alongside experienced steel fixers and erectors, learning how to install beams, frames, handrails and balustrades safely and accurately from GA drawings.

You will also learn how to use

Fieldwire

, our site management software, to record work, upload photos, review drawings and complete installation documentation.

This role is ideal for someone practical, reliable, safety-conscious and eager to learn new skills.

Key Responsibilities (Training Provided)

Assist with the installation of structural and architectural steelwork under supervision Learn how to read drawings and follow installation instructions Support experienced erectors with lifting, positioning and fixing steel components Use

to: Upload site photos and record progress View and understand drawings Complete sign-off sheets Record site notes and variations Help resolve site challenges by communicating clearly with the team Follow all safe working practices and site rules Represent the company professionally on all customer sites Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to a good standard

Experience & Skills (Training Provided)

A practical, hands-on approach to work Strong communication skills and willingness to follow instructions Positive attitude and eagerness to learn on-the-job Good level of physical fitness for site work Reliable, punctual and presentable Ability to work safely as part of a team
No previous steel erection experience is required. A background in construction, fabrication or similar hands-on trades is helpful but not essential.

Essential Requirements

Based in Sussex Interest in learning steel erection and site installation Reliable, punctual and respectful of safety Willing to work outdoors and travel to sites across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and south of the Thames Strong teamwork ethic Willing to use a phone/tablet for Fieldwire (training provided)

Desirable (But Not Essential - Training Available)

CSCS card IPAF PASMA Slinger/Signaller Experience lifting or moving heavy materials Any exposure to construction or site environments Understanding of basic site safety
