What is the Role?
This is an ideal role for someone looking to begin into a career in Financial Services and would suit someone who doesn't necessarily have experience in Underwriting or Fraud but instead has an eye for detail, an analytical and methodical mind, and an appetite for learning. If you think this is you then we would love to hear from you, don't be put off by a perceived lack of experience.
The roles primary focus is assessing loan applications in our queue in the following ways:
Assessing documents our customers send us and ensuring they are legitimate and meet policy - so an eye for detail and accuracy is essential.
Reviewing Bank Statements and Open Banking Reports to be able to accurately calculate key income and expenditure figures and be able to perform an analysis of information received.
Occasionally calling customers to discuss the application and request further information/clarification where appropriate. The role will involve telephone work so a candidate should be fully aware of this and be happy to speak via telephone.
From time to time an Underwriter may assist our Contact Centre, who we work closely with, therefore a passion for customer service is important. A successful candidate can expect to spend at least their first full month working within the Contact Centre to help understand the end-to-end customer journey and understand our systems and processes. This time also helps allow greater social integration into the company and helps build relationships with colleagues outside of your immediate team!
What Are We Looking For?
Credentials:
Previous experience where an element of reviewing documents and where eye for detail was required is preferred (this doesn't need to be Underwriting per se)
A curious, analytical, and methodical mind
The ability to 'learn on the job' and absorb training provided and be happy to be continuously learning and adapting.
A positive attitude and mindset are crucial - a real appetite for learning and desire to develop.
Knowledge & skills:
Strong eye for detail
Good telephone skills
Working effectively in a fast-paced environment, being able to react well to change and have the ability to multitask.
Good Time management
Excellent organisation skills
Personal attributes:
Integrity and honesty
Pragmatic with strong judgement - ability to be able to prioritise tasks and understand the need to balance company requirements and commercial considerations in everyday tasks.
Right attitude, humility, and willingness to learn every day.
Experience in the financial sector or a regulated environment would be beneficial but is not mandatory for those that wish to apply, we are more interested in you as a candidate and the skills you have and your desire and ability to learn. We love to see our team progress within our business, so you will receive ongoing training about our industry as well as Bamboo itself, being provided with all the key coaching you need to meet your personal targets and nurture your career.
