Certex UK have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Trainee Wire Rope Operator to join our Industrial Products Team based in Harworth (DN11 8RY), near Doncaster.



The purpose of the role is to assist in the production and assembly of lifting equipment and wire rope products, gaining practical experience across a range of mechanical splicing and rope termination processes. This trainee role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in a hands-on manufacturing environment, with full training provided.



Working hours will be 08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 16:00 on Friday.

Key Responsibilities:



Assembly & Production of Wire Rope Equipment:




Turnback Eye Splicer: Convert bulk steel wire rope (SWR) into finished assemblies using turnback eye techniques, as per works order instructions; MCC Operator: Measure, cut, and coil SWR accurately to prepare rope for further processing; White Metal & Resin Socketer: Terminate wire rope ends by fitting sockets using either white metal or resin, in line with quality and safety standards; Flemish Eye Splicer: Prepare and apply Flemish eye terminations, as specified in work orders.



General Workshop Duties:




Safely operate workshop machinery and manual handling equipment; Maintain a clean and organised working area; Assist with loading/unloading and movement of materials (including forklift use); Follow all health & safety procedures.



Key Skills:




No prior experience required

- a willingness to learn is essential; Good attention to detail and accuracy when measuring and assembling components; A team player with a proactive, hands-on approach; Physically fit and comfortable working in an industrial/production environment; Customer-focused mindset with pride in quality workmanship.



Training & Development:




Full training provided Forklift licence (B1/B2) if not already held. Overhead Crane Slinging and lifting Progression to qualified Multi-skilled Wire Rope Operator upon successful training and performance.



Desirable Qualifications/Experience:




Forklift licence (B1/B2) - advantageous, but training will be provided; Previous workshop or manual handling experience is beneficial but not required.
