Job Description

We are looking for trainee/improver Steel Erectors to join our teams working on construction sites across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are keen to learn the trade of erecting structural steel framed buildings while assisting with all duties related to steel erection. You will work alongside experienced steel erectors, gaining hands-on skills, site knowledge and industry-recognised experience in a practical, supportive environment. The role is ideally suited to reliable, motivated people with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in structural steelwork. The position will initially be paid at the National Minimum Wage, with regular reviews and clear progression as skills, experience and responsibilities grow.

Job Duties to Include

Assisting experienced steel erectors with the installation of structural steelwork on construction sites, working at height helping to align and fasten steel members

Carrying out basic labouring duties related to steel erection, including moving materials, preparing work areas

Learning how to safely use hand tools and basic equipment used within the steel erection trade

Supporting lifting operations, learning how to position lifting equipment

Learning how to read engineering and erection drawings

Following site safety rules, reading Risk Assessments & Method Statements and following instructions at all times

Helping with loading, unloading and organising steel components and equipment

Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment

Working as part of a team and taking guidance from supervisors and senior operatives

Attending site inductions, toolbox talks and any other required training sessions

A basic CSCS/CPCS card is preferred, but training can be provided for the right candidate.

The role is on a PAYE basis and includes 28 days annual leave (including statutory bank holidays) per year, which increases in accordance with internal policy and in line with length of service.

Working away from home may be required, although accommodation and an overnight allowance are provided.
