Due to the retirement of a much respected colleague, we are seeking a dynamic and passionate Training Officer (Assessor) in Engineering Construction Pipe Fitting or Pipe/Plate Welding to join our educational team. This is an excellent opportunity to join the successful team at The Engineering College delivering a high quality learning experience to engineering apprentices, ensuring they reach their maximum educational and developmental potential.
You will join a small, supportive trade team where your specific skillset will complement the existing expertise of pipe fitting so we are particulary interested in candidates who bring experience of pipe and plate welding. Specifics of the core delivery are set out at https://skillsengland.education.gov.uk/apprenticeships/st0162 or https://skillsengland.education.gov.uk/apprenticeships/st0851 .
You will be a time served Pipe Fitter or Pipe/Plate Welder and hold Level 3 or above in a relevant engineering qualification together with suitable teacher/assessor qualifications.
If this is a career change for you, moving from industry to step into education for the first time, we can train you to convert your vocational skills to a teaching role. You must be genuinely looking to switch to a real and worthwhile career in technical training for industry and willing to work towards achieving a relevant teaching and assessor qualification which will be fully funded.
Experience of platforms such as OneFile and Canvas is desirable, as are good IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
You should be confident in managing apprenticeship documentation from registration through to end point assessment. During regularly scheduled 'on the job' reviews at the learners place of work, you will ensure learner progress in the development of knowledge and skills is aligned to their programme and employer requirements, providing constructive feedback and target setting to support continuous improvement, all to a high standard of quality.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for a Training Officer due to the nature of the role which involves regular travel to engage with apprentices across the Mersey and Cheshire regions and for which mileage, tunnel toll and a monthly car allowance are payable.
There is also scope for the successful candidate to become suitably qualified to carry out Internal Quality Assurance activities to ensure learner portfolios are maintained to the required standard for awarding bodies.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Preferred candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Applications are welcome from STEM Returners, women and black and minority ethnic candidates who are under-represented in academic posts in college.
