The P-8A Project Management Specialist supports the P-8A Training Support Provision (TSP) Programme Manager and has responsibility for leading and managing specific assigned projects under TSP Programme to Time, Cost, and Quality requirements.

The role will also assist the TSP Programme Manager in planning, co-ordinating, delivering & reporting of specific contract deliverables through the course of the contract delivery to the UK MoD.

This is a Level 4 specialist grade within the UK P-8A programme and reports to the overall P-8A Programme Manager and is supervised day to day by the P-8A TSP Programme Manager.

The P-8A Project Management Specialist role offers a unique opportunity for the right individual to join and develop within the BDUK organisation, whilst supporting the delivery of an important and exciting UK MoD front line capability.

The UK MoD has procured nine P-8A Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) under a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) agreement with the United States Government (USG), with all aircraft having been handed over to the Royal Air Force (RAF) in early 2022. Along with the aircraft, MoD has procured SQEP personnel for Training Delivery and Ground based Synthetic Training Devices to support RAF\xe2\x80\x99s training needs for P-8A Aircraft.

The UK MoD has since placed a sole source Direct Commercial Sale contract with BDUK for 25 years, split into 5 five year pricing periods. This covers both- Aircraft Support Provision (ASP) and Training Service Provision (TSP).

Key Elements of TSP Include:

  • Training Delivery- Provision of SQEP Training Instructors and Course Design staff.
  • Managing the Maintenance Service for training devices - governance arrangements, change management procedures, programme controls, quality assurance, optimisation and regulatory compliance.
  • The Spares Service - Supply Chain management, spares provision and asset management.
  • Framework for Over & Above projects - additional services that the Authority may wish to invoke in support to P-8A Training Support Provision.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead assigned projects providing effective planning, co-ordination, management and reporting whilst adhering to company processes and required governance.
  • Execute, monitor, control and report allocated projects in accordance with company processes to Time, Cost and Quality.
  • Act as primary interface to internal and external stakeholders for assigned projects.
  • Risk Issue and Opportunity Management for assigned projects.
  • Support/ deputise for the TSP Programme Manager in planning, co-ordinating, delivering & reporting of specific contract deliverables through the course of the contract delivery to the UK MoD.
  • Ensure tasks associated with assigned projects are assigned and being executed to plan with appropriate tracking and reporting.
  • Provide strong focus on end-to-end delivery of projects to requirements using KPIs/PIs.
Essential Requirements:
  • Experience working & delivering aerospace, training and/or engineering projects (products and/or services preferably that involve a level of technical complexity).
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of successfully delivery.
  • Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.
Desired skills and attributes:
  • A strong focus on end-to-end delivery of projects to schedule, cost and quality requirements.
  • Ability to accept, direct, and perform responsibilities and work assigned tasks as a project team member in support of the overall project.
  • Ability to manage change within a challenging schedule.
  • Experienced in working within a dispersed team environment.
  • Experience of working within the Defence industry and good knowledge of the development and delivery of project plans in accordance with MoD standards and practices.
  • Experience of budgetary and project control over the full project life-cycle.
  • A \xe2\x80\x98can-do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude with the ability to think around problems, use intuition and get the best from those around them; a team effort.
  • Degree qualified preferably in an engineering discipline, with business management experience.
  • Qualified to APM PMQ (Project Management Qualification) or equivalent.
Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance.
